KaMOS Gasket, method of leak testing of flanges with ring joints measuring whether tightness has been achieved on all sealing surfaces of flange before the flange and pipe are subjected to internal pressure, as well as monitor the flange connections for future leakages.
The KaMOS test system will also check the primary and secondary sides of the seal for tightness. Other leak testing methods that is used today cannot distinguish these two sides, only if it is tight or not.
The KaMOS® method is based on pressurizing the annular space between primary and secondary sealing using test medium. If no pressure loss is recorded the seal is deemed tight.
The test gas is applied using a small portable equipment containing: pressure bottle, manometer and hoses. This test equipment is designed to enable flanges to be tested on a one- off basis with out pressurizing entire system.
The KaMOS® gasket may be used several times in installations by getting new sealing material on the metallic core.
Type of Kamos gasket
KaMOS® RF & FF Gasket:
• The flange is tested for leaks before the process pressure is applied.
• Flanges that would not otherwise be leak or pressure tested (such as blind flanges to isolate spools) can be tested.
• Time of testing is significantly reduced, resulting in less downtime due to leak testing.
• KaMOS Test Equipment is easy to use.
• Volumes of nitrogen required for testing are minimal, so large quantities of nitrogen and helium will be saved compared to conventional leak testing.
• The KaMOS test method can also be used for continuous monitoring of seals by equipping the annular space with an indicator of gas pressure.
• The pressurization line can be used to feed in liquid sealant in case of emergency.
