Low Temperature service below -40°C will also harden the elastomeric binder in the compressed fibre materials. To ensure safe service of these materials at low temperatures we recommend that:
• the gasket is fitted dry;
• the gasket is fitted at room temperature;
• the gasket is not re-torqued once in service.

Compressed fibre gasket material :

Compressed Fibre Material is a compressed non-asbestos sheet gasket material produced from a combination of aramid and other synthetic fibers and bonded with nitrile rubber (NBR).

It is a very good general service gasket material and is often used in applications including air, water, steam, organic and inorganic acids, alkalis, general chemicals, petroleum and refrigerants
